The most beautiful time of year in Central Oregon is just around the corner! Fall mini-sessions are the perfect, fast-paced way to capture updated family portraits just in time for holiday cards and wall art. Because these spots are limited and book incredibly fast, I want to make sure you have all the information you need to grab your slot the second dates are released.
Here are the answers to the most common questions I get about fall minis!
What exactly is a "Mini-Session" and how is it different from a regular session?
A mini-session is a short but sweet event. While my regular family sessions are full-length and slower-paced, mini-sessions are fast, 15-minute blocks of time booked back-to-back on specific dates at one pre-chosen location. They are ideal if you just want a few beautiful, updated family images and want a quick, stress-free experience!
What locations are you shooting at this fall?
We are taking advantage of Central Oregon's stunning landscape this year! Our fall mini-sessions will be held across three incredible locations:
- Indian Ford Meadows: Think wide-open mountain views, gorgeous golden fields, and classic Central Oregon beauty.
- Hollinshead Park: Perfect for beautiful, mature trees, historic structures, and vibrant autumn leaf color right in town.
- Smith Rock State Park: Dramatic, towering red rock backdrops paired with spectacular golden hour lighting.
How much does it cost, and what is included?
Fall mini-sessions are $195 and include your 15-minute shooting time. Your session comes with 10 fully edited, high-resolution digital images delivered via a private online gallery.
Can I purchase additional images?
Yes! If you fall in love with your entire gallery and want to keep more than your included 10 images, you have the option to easily upgrade and purchase the full digital gallery for an additional $100.
Can we order professional prints and wall art?
Absolutely! Your private online gallery includes a built-in professional print shop. Once you view your images, you can easily purchase professional-grade prints, stunning custom wall art, and albums directly through your gallery to bring your memories off the screen and into your home.
What should our family wear?
The secret to great photos is coordinating, not matching!
- Pick a palette: Choose 2–3 coordinating colors. Earthy neutrals (creams, taupes, olive, rust, or deep navy) look incredible against Central Oregon's natural backdrops.
- Avoid being "matchy-matchy": Avoid putting everyone in the exact same shirt or color. Instead, mix textures like knits, denim, and linen.
- Say no to logos: Avoid giant graphics, logos, neon colors, or busy tiny patterns that can distort on camera.
- Prioritize comfort: Make sure your kids can jump, hug, and run in their clothes without itchy fabrics or tight waistbands causing a meltdown.
What happens if my child won’t sit still or look at the camera?
Take a deep breath: this is exactly what I expect! My photography philosophy is child-led. We do not do stiff, forced posing. Instead, we play quick games, do tickle attacks, and capture real, candid laughter. Your job is just to look at your kids and enjoy the moment let me worry about capturing the magic.
What happens if it rains or the weather drops?
Central Oregon fall weather can surprise us! If we get poured out or experience unsafe weather conditions, I always reserve dedicated rain-dates to reschedule our block. If the weather is just chilly but dry, the session goes on! Fall layers, like cute beanies, sweaters, and denim jackets photograph beautifully.
Can we bring our extended family or pets?
Because mini-sessions are short and fast-paced, they are strictly limited to immediate family members (parents and their children). There simply isn't enough time in a 15-minute window to properly capture extended family groups. If you want to include grandparents, aunts, uncles, or your family pup, let's chat about booking a full-length regular session instead.
What if we are running late to our time slot?
Because mini-sessions are booked strictly back-to-back, your session start and end times are fixed. If you are late, unfortunately, that time comes out of your 15-minute shooting window, as I cannot push back the families scheduled after you. I highly recommend aiming to arrive 10 minutes before your slot so you can park, stretch, wipe any messy faces, and walk to our meeting spot completely stress-free.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because these seasonal slots are highly limited and take up a fixed space on my calendar, the retainer required to book your session is strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
How long will it take to get our photos back?
I know how excited you are to see your pictures (and how important they are for holiday card deadlines!). You will receive your private, completed online gallery within 2 to 3 weeks of your session date, giving you plenty of time to choose your favorites, order your prints, and design your holiday cards.
What kind of sessions can be booked with these fall mini sessions?
Fall minis are perfect for family sessions, seniors, and maternity sessions.
